Duties/Responsibilities:
Under general supervision,
performs functions to supervise, plan, control, direct, administer, train and
coordinate the activities of Environmental Health Specialist supporting
Industrial Hygiene and Public Health programs. Supervisor activities include:
Work planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation, discipline, time
reporting, policy and procedural direction within the applicable for tasks
assigned by Industrial Hygiene Project Managers. Responsible for day-to-day
performance of approximately 20 non-exempt, represented specialist who perform field
work and managed a large array of tasks supporting the NASA Kennedy Space
Center and US Air Force Cape Canaveral Air Force Station / Patrick Air Force
Base industrial hygiene requirements. Estimate personnel and labor budget
requirements as necessary. Assign work and ensure work completion and work
control critical dates are achieved. Interpret and verify consistent
application of organizational policies. Provide guidance and direction to
subordinate employees. Conducts briefing, crew meetings and safety meetings as
required. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA, and Air Force
laws, regulations and requirements; and KSC/CCAFS energy management
conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety,
and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the
business of this branch, working within the limits of established policy. May
be required to periodically work in a field or aerospace industrial environment
Qualifications:
Experience in Environmental
Science, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Public Health work is preferred.
Experience working on
Government Contracts and with Represented Labor a strong plus.
Experience working with
Maximo Work Control Systems, or similar systems, is a plus.
Must possess ability to
handle information of a confidential nature.
Must possess ability to
interpret regulatory intent applicable to assigned area of responsibility.
Must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills and be able to use the advance functions of basic Office
and Management software.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a
specified discipline such as Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, and/or
Public Health administrative discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of
experience supervising a technical work force.
Working Conditions:
Must thrive in a team
atmosphere and effectively work with all levels of employees. Employee must be able to successfully
complete Occupational Health Physical Assessments and conduct field activities
in an active Spaceport as routinely required.
General office environment may require minor lifting and bending.
Normal daily work week
schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends when necessary.
Complies with all Company
safety policies and site-specific safety procedures. Must be willing to ensure
safe operating conditions within all areas of responsibility and identify, act
and report on areas of safety or hazard concerns.
