Arms Adoption Agency, a program of JFSA, is licensed by the State of Nevada as
a child-placing agency. The goal of the Agency’s adoption program is to provide
professional adoption services; work with birth parents that are considering
adoption of their children and to assist in the placement of infants in
permanent family homes. To achieve this goal, there will be counseling with
birth parents, consent processing, and group training sessions for pre-adoptive
couples and individuals, home study screening and counseling for couples or
individuals wanting to adopt, pre-placement and post-placement supervision of
infants, and work with referral sources and licensed adoption facilitators and
attorneys both in Nevada and out of state. The primary purpose will be to
ensure the best emotional, spiritual, material, and physical needs of the
individual infant.
This
position offers the opportunity for growth and transition into the Director of
Adoption Program.
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities:

Handle inquiry calls for Adoptive families and birth parents.
·
Assist in interviewing, assessing, and evaluating adoptive
applicants and birth parents as described in the Agency’s Adoption Manual.
·
Provide appropriate services and coordinate with other JFSA staff
or community resources on behalf of infants, birth parents, adoptive couples,
and foster families as described in the Adoption Agency’s Manual.
·
Represent JFSA in the adoption area in the community
·
Provide general support to the Director of Adoption Services.
·
Assist with birth parent consents, writing and filing reports to
the court and adoption finalization process.
·
Be available after hours for birth parent contact
·
Assist in marketing the
Agency’s adoption program and for public relations in the area
·
Attend and participate
in Agency/community meetings and educational events as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
·
Minimum of bachelor’s degree with demonstrated knowledge and
experience in child welfare and adoption in the State of Nevada.
·
Have an active Nevada State Social Work license (LSW)
·
Exceptional time management skills.
·
Ability to effectively communicate with persons of all backgrounds
and levels
· Flexible to work
after-hours and on-call time.
·
Non-judgmental attitude and ability to handle sensitive
confidential issues
Physical Demands:
Ability to drive, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
of time. Ability to perform push/pull movements and to lift 10 lbs.
Position duties will be fulfilled in an outdoor and indoor
environment.
