Job Title: Children’s Minister

Status: Full Time (Exempt)

Supervisor: Lead Minister

Ten Mile Christian’s Mission Statement: “Making disciples who worship, learn and serve.”

Who We Are: Ten Mile Christian Church is a Christian Church in the Restoration Movement Tradition. We were established in 1906 and have had three different names across three locations: originally Meridian Christian Church, and formerly Cherry Lane Christian Church. As a non-denominational body of believers, we are unified on the essentials of the Christian faith derived from Scripture and the practice of the early church. Our core values are 1) the Lordship of Jesus Christ and his identity as God and Savior, 2) the Authority of Scripture as first and final, and 3) the Unity of Believers as present reality in the Spirit and goal for fellowship. We cast a wide net and recognize differences in interpretation for non-essential matters of interpretation and strive to do all things in love. TMCC is a warm and friendly church known locally for welcoming you where you are. We currently host 4 services on Sunday.

Where We Are: Location. Location. Location. God has blessed us with a wonderful location in one of the most desirable and fastest growing areas to live in in the United States. It has wonderful small town values and feel, full of parks and walking areas, beautiful lakes, rivers, and mountains for skiing. Our church is built on 40 acres on one of the fastest growing interchanges in the valley. Houses and businesses are sprouting up all around us!

What We Do: We believe discipleship is transformation. Change into and toward the image and person of Christ (2 Cor 3:18 ; Rom 8:29; 12:1-2). We want to see each and every person transformed into in the image of Christ through an encounter with Christ by his Spirit or Word. Through personal transformation we believe the kingdom advances and expands. Our ministry philosophy is to equip, empower, and encourage persons to use their gifts, talents, and abilities to fulfill the mission of the church to see the world transformed by God’s love.

Position Purpose: To provide spiritual leadership for TMC’s Children’s Ministries recognizing that it is not just children who will grow and benefit from such leadership but adults who serve within this ministry as well as the parents/families who share in that development. This spiritual leadership will involve creativity, fun and solid Biblical Truths. When we reach a child with the saving knowledge of Christ, we rejoice with that one child and potentially reach a family and perhaps help shape a community for God’s glory. Children’s Ministry is valued as an important part of our church body embracing our mission statement in “making disciples who worship, learn and serve” beginning with the youngest in our church family. To help create and nurture a ministry where ALL children are welcome!

· A genuine love for God and His people. This might seem obvious, but the demands of leading in children’s ministry highlight the need for this characteristic over all others.

· Ability to own and cast a big vision. Children’s ministry is a team sport! Your leader MUST be able to share the big picture in order to bring new members onto the team.

· Ability to lead adults and develop new leaders. Leading children’s ministry effectively is primarily about leading adults, not children. The larger the church, the greater the need for this ability. As the ministry grows, the ability to reproduce new leaders to share the load is absolutely essential.

· An understanding of the spiritual formation process. Children’s ministry is not childcare; it’s investing in those who Jesus said represent what our faith should actually look like (see Mark 10:13–16). Understanding this and how to lead children through this process in the church while equipping parents to do it in the home is vital to accomplishing the bottom line of children’s ministry—making disciples.

· An ability to administrate. Children’s ministry success is found in the details. Structure and process amidst the controlled chaos is essential. Whether it’s the individual’s own skill or the ability to work through others, an ability to administrate is a non-negotiable.
