You are a skilled and experienced Systems and Network Engineer with a proven ability to design, implement, and manage complex IT and network environments. You enjoy collaborating with project teams to deliver tailored solutions while also being adept at resolving critical service escalations. Responsibilities:
Assisting in the Discovery and Design of IT Solutions: Collaborate with our sales and consulting teams to learn how to design tailored IT solutions for our clients, encompassing server infrastructure, network architecture, virtualization, cloud technologies, and network security.
Supporting System and Network Architecture and Deployment: Assist in the implementation of various IT environments, including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, mail, and cloud services, as well as network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, WLANs, firewalls, routers, and switches, to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security across all layers.
Security and Compliance: Learn and implement security best practices across both systems and networks and assist in ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Participate in regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities at both the system and network levels.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Assist in the deployment of robust backup and disaster recovery solutions for our clients' critical data and systems, considering network dependencies and recovery strategies, to ensure business continuity.
Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to the creation of technical documentation, including system and network configurations, standard operating procedures, and incident reports. Assist in generating periodic reports to update clients on system and network health and performance.
Incident Resolution and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to resolve moderate to complex issues, incidents, and problems related to systems, networks, and applications, adhering to predefined SLAs.
Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with other team members, including more experienced network and systems engineers, support staff, and project managers, to ensure seamless delivery of services and projects across all infrastructure components.
Technology Research and Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in both systems and networking. Participate in research and evaluation of new tools and solutions that can enhance our services and client experience in both domains.
Client Engagement: Develop strong relationships with our clients, offering basic technical guidance on both systems and networking matters, participating in meetings, and learning to act as a trusted advisor for their IT needs.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5 years of experience in a Systems or Network Engineer or related role, preferably within an MSP environment, with some exposure to network engineering concepts.
3-5 years experience participating in deployments of systems or network solutions.
Familiarity with Windows and macOS environments, as well as networking concepts and devices.
Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure AD, Intune, etc.), and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
An understanding of on-premise to cloud migration concepts, including Active Directory, mail, and compute workloads, as well as knowledge of network considerations for cloud connectivity.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewall basics, antivirus, and intrusion detection concepts, with an emerging understanding of network security principles (e.g., basic firewall rules, VPN concepts).
Some experience with storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup/recovery strategies, with a basic awareness of network connectivity for these systems.
Developing problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues in both systems and networks with guidance.
Developing communication and customer service skills, with the ability to articulate basic technical concepts to stakeholders.
Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certifications, or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are a plus.
