AmeriCorps Senior Program Supervisor

The AmeriCorps Seniors Program Supervisor provides direct support to active volunteers and volunteer worksites in the Senior Companion and Foster Grandparent - AmeriCorps Seniors grants.

Program Distinctions

While the duties for the Supervisor are combined, the programs serve distinctly different demographics:

  • Foster Grandparent Program: Volunteers mentor and tutor children with exceptional or special needs.
  • Senior Companion Program: Volunteers provide emotional support, respite, and assistance with daily tasks to frail or homebound adults to help them remain independent.

Program Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Partnership & Community Relations

  • Secure, expand, and maintain Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with volunteer stations and the Clark County School District.
  • Including summer placements and senior apartments.

· Ensure strong processes of communication with Site Supervisors and service site locations/partners

· Plan and conduct public relations activities to promote awareness and recognize volunteers, stakeholders, and community partners.

· Organize days of service.

Volunteer Training and Placement.

  • Verifies accuracy of volunteer onboarding requirements.
  • Ensure volunteers receive required pre-service orientations, in-service training, and regular performance appraisals.
  • Plans engaging educational opportunities for volunteers.
  • Ensure training documentation is maintained.
  • Coordinates the timely placement of each older adult volunteer (age 55+) into outcome-based assignments at local schools and community stations.
  • Ensure members are involved in meaningful direct service activities and have a positive member experience.

Volunteer Management

· Serves as the initial administrative contact for resolving issues and mediating volunteer/site supervisor/client issues.

· Conducts systems review to ensure evaluation methods are accurate and meaningful.

· Plans events, distributes awards, and celebrates the impact of volunteers in the community.

· Develop and utilize needs assessment, evaluation tools and observation to inform training topics and methods.

· Ensure compliance with volunteer stipend/reimbursement policies.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Non-profit Management, Gerontology, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in project management, grant compliance, building community partnerships, volunteer mobilization, training and evaluation.
  • Skills/Knowledge: Public speaking, building meaningful training plans, adult learning theory and event planning.

Requirements: Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Possess reliable transportation and a Nevada Driver’s License. Ability to attend occasional after-hours and weekend meetings/events is required. Regional travel may be required for this position.
