Duties/Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, performs functions to
supervise, plan, control, direct, administer, train and coordinate the
activities of Environmental Health Specialists supporting Industrial Hygiene (IH)
and Public Health programs. Supervisor activities include: Work planning,
staffing, training, performance evaluation, discipline, time reporting, employee
development, employee relations, policy and procedural direction within the
applicable for tasks assigned by Industrial Hygiene Project Managers.
Responsible for day-to-day performance of approximately 20 non-exempt,
represented specialists who perform field work and manage a large array of
tasks supporting the NASA Kennedy Space Center and US Air Force Cape Canaveral
Air Force Station / Patrick Air Force Base industrial hygiene programs.
Estimate personnel, equipment and labor budget requirements as necessary.
Assign work and ensure work completion and work control critical dates are
achieved. Interpret and verify consistent application of organizational
policies. Provide guidance and direction to subordinate employees. Conducts
briefings, IH department meetings and safety meetings as required. Ensures
compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA, and Air Force laws, regulations
and requirements; and KSC/CCAFS energy management conservation regulations,
collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, and other specialized
programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of this branch,
working within the limits of established policy. May be required to
periodically work in a field or aerospace industrial environments.
Qualifications:
Experience in Management, Environmental Science,
Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Logistics, Equipment Management, and/or
Personnel are preferred. Strong
supervisory and leadership skills are essential.
Experience working on Government Contracts and with represented
labor, a strong plus.
Experience working with Maximo Work Control Systems,
or similar systems, a plus.
Must possess ability to handle information of a
confidential nature.
Must possess ability to interpret regulatory intent
applicable to assigned area of responsibility.
Must possess
excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to use the advanced
functions of basic Office and Management software.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science or related field, is
preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience supervising
a technical work force is strongly desired.
Working Conditions:
Must thrive in a team atmosphere and effectively work
with all levels of employees. Employee
must be able to successfully complete Occupational Health Physical Assessments
and certifications to conduct field activities in an active Spaceport as
routinely required. General office
environment may require minor lifting and bending.
Normal daily work week schedule with the ability to
work evenings, weekends when necessary. Participate in an occasional after
hours on-call rotation for a week at a time.
Complies with all company safety policies and
site-specific safety procedures. Must be willing to ensure safe operating
conditions within all areas of responsibility and identify, act and report on
areas of safety or hazard concerns.
