JOB TITLE:                  Apprentice Driller

JOB TYPE:                  Full-Time, Non-Exempt

LOCATION:                  Las Vegas, NV

REPORTS TO:             Drilling Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS:     None

PAY RANGE:                $27 - $30 per hour dependent on experience

SUMMARY

The apprentice driller is expected to coordinate with the drilling supervisor on all aspects of drilling.  The apprentice driller will assist in assuring that all work conforms to our quality standards, that client schedules are met, and that equipment is properly maintained.  This includes preventative maintenance, planning and tracking of drilling equipment and strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.     Follow Safety Manual Guidelines and always work safely

2.     Meet general job expectations:

·        Perform drilling daily

·        Complete required paperwork daily

3.     Show good teamwork efforts

·        Maintain equipment daily

·        Maintain drilling equipment inventory daily

4.     Mentor others

·        Perform as lead person on job site daily

·        Assist with training of drilling staff weekly

5.     Demonstrate a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious atmosphere daily

6.     Support the team, the supervisor, and the company daily

7.     Perform other duties as assigned daily

DESIRED OUTCOMES OR RESULTS

All drilling is performed safely in a manner consistent with the Company’s goals & standards. In addition to performing and knowledge of drilling activities, the apprentice driller will work closely with drilling supervisor and clients to troubleshoot as needed.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS DESIRED

·        Valid Nevada Driver’s License

·        Unrestricted Class A CDL is required within 6 months of entering the position

·        Ability to work safely

·        Ability to operate a manual transmission

·        HAZWOPER 40 hour is required alongside with good physical condition with the ability to pass a baseline physical exam & respirator fit test

·        Minimum 2 years High School strongly preferred

·        Ability to study and learn Nevada rules and regulations for licensing and must obtain Full well driller’s license within 1 year of employment

·        Meets skill requirements and experience on drilling rigs as determined by Drilling Supervisor

·        Communication skills and organizational skills

·        Mechanical skills

·        Works well with others

·        MSHA Part 48B a plus
