Summary: The Senior Special Inspector
is expected to perform all aspects of Special Inspections and observations in
conformance with GES’ quality standards and client schedules.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Special Inspector
is responsible for performing and coordinating special inspections and field
observations for construction projects in accordance with applicable codes,
project specifications, and industry standards. This role supports quality
assurance efforts, communicates field findings, and collaborates with field and
laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate reporting. The Senior
Special Inspector is expected to coordinate all activities with the Field
Supervisor and Project Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates daily field assignments and
scheduling with the Field Supervisor.
·
Conduct special inspections and field
observations for a variety of construction materials and systems (e.g.,
concrete, masonry, soils, structural steel, fireproofing).
·
Document inspection results and field
observations in clear, detailed, and timely reports.
·
Communicate findings and concerns to field
personnel, contractors, and the Project Manager as appropriate.
·
Coordinate and deliver field samples to the
laboratory for further testing.
·
Review and confirm the scope of laboratory
testing with the Project Manager.
·
Collaborate with the Laboratory Supervisor to
ensure proper handling and prioritization of testing.
·
Participate in job site safety practices and
always adhere to company safety protocols.
·
Attend project meetings and provide progress
updates to the Project Manager.
·
Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment as
needed; ensure proper care of company vehicle.

Provide mentoring and train less experienced
staff
·
Provide technical expertise and knowledge to
assist GES staff, clients and contractors in solving issues that arise during
construction.

field, laboratory, and project management teams.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS DESIRED
·
High
school diploma or equivalent (required).
·
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
·
Proven ability to interact effectively with clients,
contractors, and internal teams.
·
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction
materials testing and inspection.
·
Industry certifications strongly preferred,
such as:
·
ICC Special Inspector (e.g., Reinforced
Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel & Bolting)
·
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
·
NICET certification in Construction Materials
Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt)
·
Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
·
Proficiency in interpreting construction
drawings, specifications, and codes (IBC, ACI, ASTM, etc.).
·
Valid driver’s license and clean driving
record.
·
Able to lift 50lbs without assistance.
